Young Black and Brown Authors

Our Mission

The YBBA Initiative is dedicated to encouraging young authorship amongst Black and Brown students. We help and guide young authors through brainstorming their ideas, expressing their interests, telling their stories, writing their manuscripts, editing their manuscripts, designing their covers, and independently publishing their books with full autonomy and royalties.

Tatum Award:

The school district of SpringISD named an award after our founder called The Tatum Award for Rising Writers. This award is given annually to high school students who embody the characteristics of leadership and powerful expression through writing.
