Our Mission
The THA Initiative aims to reform health systems in an equitable and conducive manner that rectifies the disparities in medical treatment and places compassion at the forefront of care.
Project Redefine:
Working directly with Global Health Advocate Dr. Farah Shroff, The THA Initiative has aimed to redefine what health care should embody and how we can go about reforming it. The mission is to understand that health should be Health Promotion, Disease Prevention, and then Treatment, emphasizing the importance of promoting health to begin with. We have also been aiming to spearhead anti-racism movements to combat racial disparities in medicine. We have also worked with nonprofits in Canada and Boston to bring awareness to the health disparities facing women and fight for women’s rights to accessible health services.
Project Brigham:
THA is working with Harvard Professor Maria Nardell to conduct qualitative research that studies the impacts of HIV in parts of South Africa and how the stigma around HIV must be dismantled. We are also working with physicians in the Boston area to spread the knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care and Bridges to Moms to provide support to the Care of Homeless Women.
Project Prevention:
THA is conducting research with Harvard Medical School Professor Dr. Daniela Dinelescu that is bringing Ovarian and Breast Cancer Prevention to the forefront of medical innovation. Preventative treatment of cancer is a groundbreaking field that is far too overlooked and underfunded. Our work is also geared towards making health care accessible and increasing awareness of health possibilities. We also push to fix the issues in health policy that are preventing the proper funding from being allocated to preventative care and fighting to break down the health policy barriers that are keeping preventative care from going mainstream.
